The Department of Political Science hereby announces a vacant position as PhD Research Fellow in conjunction with the Centre for Research Quality and Policy Impact Studies, R-QUEST. Norwegian applicants can apply for this fellowship.

The aim of the scholarship is to enable and encourage academically able students from Norway.

Department of Political Science PhD Research Fellowship in Norway, 2017 Founded in 1811, Universitetet i Oslo (University of Oslo) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Oslo (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants). Eligibility Criteria

To be appointed to the position,

  • The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree (120 ECTS) in Political Science or a closely related discipline.
  • The Master’s degree must include a thesis of at least 30 ECTS, and training in quantitative and qualitative research methodology. The successful candidate must document top grades and an MA Thesis of the highest quality. Personal suitability will also be an important factor.
  • The quality and promise of the project outline, and how this fits with the larger R-QUEST project, will be of great importance for evaluating the candidates. As such, displaying knowledge of one or more of the topics relevant to R-QUEST and having strong methodological skills are important factors. Further, given the expected contributions of the successful applicant to the larger project, the following skills and competencies will be given weight: a) administrative and organizational skills; b) collaborative and communication skills; and c) command of English and a Scandinavian language (command of a Scandinavian language is a plus, but not an absolute requirement).

  • List of publications and academic work that the applicant wishes to be considered by the evaluation committee
  • Please note: All documentation, the Master’s dissertation included, must be in English or in a Scandinavian language (or translated into English/Scandinavian by a certified translator)
