At TU Delft a number of scholarships are available for excellent international applicants. Justus & Louise Van Effen Excellence Scholarships are financed by the legacy of Justus and Louise van Effen. Mr. van Effen studied at TU Delft in the 1940’s and strongly believed technological developments will contribute to solving societal issues.

The Foundation Justus & Louise van Effen was established with the aim of stimulating excellent international MSc students and financially supporting them in their wish to study at TU Delft.

Delft University of Technology 2024 Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships for Master Founded in 1842, Technische Universiteit Delft (Delft University of Technology) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Delft (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), South Holland. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap, Nederland (Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Netherlands), Technische Universiteit Delft (TU Delft) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Technische Universiteit Delft (TU Delft) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 177 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 60-70% making this Dutch higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

You are an excellent international applicant (conditionally) admitted to one of the 2-year regular TU Delft MSc programmes (not a Joint Education Programme).

Students must have achieved excellent academic results in their previous study programme(s), which must be relevant to the Master's programme for which they are applying. As an indication, the student is amongst the top 10% of graduates in his/her previous study programme. Note that proof of ranking is not required – this information is purely to indicate the level of competitiveness.

You have submitted a complete MSc application before the scholarship deadline.

Offered Benefits

Granting:

  • Students who have been granted a scholarship will be informed by TU Delft via email by the end of March 2025.
  • Receiving the scholarship is conditional on the student fulfilling all admission criteria.

Extent of Scholarship: Full tuition fees per year for a TU Delft MSc programme based on the statutory fee or institutional rate, according to the registered nationality, AND contribution for the living expenses.

Go to Delft University of Technology (TU DELFT) on filelist.tudelft.nl to apply
  • Complete your  MSc application (check the  admission requirements)
  • Upload the  Scholarship Application Form
  • Upload two  reference letters

Required Documents:

All required documents must be submitted at once with the MSc Application

  • You can upload your reference letters during your MSc application (as one PDF document), according to the  indicated requirement.
  • You can request the reference letters from your referee(s). Fill out the information about your referee/s and invite them by using the ‘send invitation button’. The referee(s) will receive an automatic email inviting him/her to upload a reference for you. 
  • You can combine both procedures. E.g. 1 upload and 1 referee request.
  • Reference letters will not be considered if you have already submitted your application.
  • Reference letters will not be accepted after the Scholarship deadline
