Deakin University is pleased to announce the Postdoctoral Research Fellowships. This prestigious program supports early-career researchers in building independent research careers and contributing to Deakin’s world-class research strengths.

To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must have been awarded a PhD on or after 1 January 2022, or demonstrate an equivalent timeline accounting for allowable career interruptions. Candidates must also secure a supervisor from Deakin University who agrees to support their research project and complete a Supervisor Support Statement.

Deakin University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, Australia Established in 1974, Deakin University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Geelong (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Victoria. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants of all nationalities

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The fellowship will be awarded in any research area aligned with Deakin University’s five research strengths

  • Admissible Criteria:

    • Applicants must have been awarded a PhD on or after 1 January 2022, or demonstrate equivalent eligibility with career interruptions

    • Must obtain a support statement from a proposed supervisor at Deakin University

    • Must submit a full research proposal in collaboration with the host department

    • Must complete all required supporting documentation including CV, publications, supervisor support, research proposal, and evidence of PhD

  2. Identify a Supervisor: Contact a Deakin faculty, institute, or centre aligned with your research interests and secure a supervisor support statement.

  3. Prepare Application Documents: Including:

    • Top 5 publications

    • Supervisor support statement

    • Summary of experience and contributions

    • Full research project proposal

    • Curriculum vitae (CV) and publication list (max. 8 pages)

    • Evidence of PhD conferral

    • Career interruption evidence (if applicable)

  4. Submit Application: Complete and upload all documents via the Deakin Careers online portal.
