Dalhousie University are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join an interdisciplinary research program focused on the development of biodegradable, thread-based materials for use in flexible, transient electronic platforms. These novel materials aim to support the design of temporary biomedical devices that safely degrade after use, eliminating the need for surgical removal and reducing long-term environmental impact.
The student will:
Develop and characterize bio-compatible threads with tunable functional properties
Investigate fabrication strategies to impart electrical or sensing functionalities
Collaborate in the integration of threads into soft, degradable electronic systems
Work at the intersection of materials science, bioelectronics, and healthcare engineering
This project is part of a larger research initiative focused on next-generation biomaterials and device platforms for sustainable and patient-centered medical technologies.
Founded in 1818, Dalhousie University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Halifax (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Nova Scotia.
