The DAAD Leadership for Africa scholarship program offers a great opportunity for graduates and recognized refugees from Cameroon, Senegal, and Togo to study a fully-funded Master’s degree in Germany. The program includes a free language course, tuition-free studies at a public university, and full support throughout your stay

The Leadership for Africa scholarship is open to two groups of applicants: highly qualified refugees and nationals from Cameroon, Senegal, or Togo. Refugee applicants must have been granted official refugee status in one of these countries before April 2, 2024, and hold a completed Bachelor’s degree. National applicants must be citizens and residents of Cameroon, Senegal, or Togo and also possess a completed Bachelor’s degree.

The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD) is a publicly funded organization that promotes international academic exchange and cooperation. Founded in 1925, it is headquartered in Bonn, Germany, and operates as a registered association supported by German higher education institutions and their student bodies. DAAD’s mission is to foster global academic collaboration by providing funding, scholarships, and support programs for students, researchers, and institutions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Cameroon, Senegal, Togo

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by a public or state-recognized university in Germany.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the following two categories:

    For Refugees:

    • Hold formal refugee status granted before April 2, 2024.

    • Be residing in Cameroon, Senegal, or Togo.

    • Hold a completed Bachelor’s degree.

    For Nationals:

    • Be a citizen of Cameroon, Senegal, or Togo.

    • Reside in Cameroon, Senegal, or Togo.

    • Hold a completed Bachelor’s degree.
