Cumberland Lodge Scholarship Scheme at Bangor University for Phd


Bangor University is awarding Cumberland Lodge Scholarship Scheme for 2017-2019 academic year. Students from UK universities are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

The scholarship programme is designed to fit around the demands of doctoral research.

The aim of the scholarship is to enable and encourage academically able students from any nationality.

Bangor University is a Welsh university in the city of Bangor in the county of Gwynedd in North Wales. It received its Royal Charter in 1885 and was one of the founding member institutions of the former federal University of Wales.

Cumberland Lodge Scholarship Scheme at Bangor University for Phd Established in 1884, Bangor University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the medium-sized town of Bangor (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Wales. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, Bangor University is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Bangor University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:

  • Candidates must be studying for a doctorate at a university in the United Kingdom, and be able to commit to a two year programme. It is likely, therefore, that they will currently be in the first year of their doctorate. Applications will be accepted only from those who are registered as doctoral students, including those who have not yet transferred from master’s degree to doctoral status as long as their supervisors state they are working to doctoral standard. Those currently registered for a master’s degree who hope to go on to study for a doctorate may not apply.
  • Applicants must be studying for a doctorate in the UK and be able to commit to a two year programme.

Offered Benefits

Scholars receive free food and accommodation while staying with us for scholarship activities, and economy rate travel expenses will be covered once approved by a member of staff. The Lodge has the feel of both a college and a country house conference centre and it is noted for the quality of its food, accommodation and hospitality.

Number of Scholarships: Six scholarships will be awarded.
