CSIRO Women in Energy Scholarships in Australia for Course Founded in 1965, The University of Newcastle is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the small city of Callaghan (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), New South Wales. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Ourimbah, Port Macquarie, Singapore, Sydney. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Training, Australia, The University of Newcastle (UoN) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 30,000-34,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. The University of Newcastle (UoN) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this prestigious scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in the 1st year of an eligible engineering degree program at the University of Newcastle.
  • Full-time enrollment status.
  • Attained an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or equivalent of 75 or higher.
  • Female gender.
  • Australian citizenship.
  • Not concurrently holding another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship.

Acceptable Courses or Subjects:

This scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing any of the following eligible engineering programs:

  • Bachelor of Aerospace Systems Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Computer Systems Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Renewable Energy Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours)

Offered Benefits

  • $5,000 each semester payable following census dates in April and September.
  • Opportunity for industry placements within the Sponsor’s workplace.
  • Additional 5th year of scholarship for eligible combined programs.
