Established in 1921, Concordia University of Edmonton is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Edmonton (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Alberta. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Alberta, Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is a very small (uniRank enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 98 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 50-60% making this Canadian higher education organization a averagely selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

- There are no citizenship restrictions on this award.
- Each candidate must be sponsored by a faculty supervisor, possessing both a record of productive research within an Alberta Innovates-funded research area (ICT and AMM) and sufficient resources to ensure the satisfactory conduct of the research.
- Students cannot simultaneously hold support from more than one Alberta Innovates studentship program.
- Scholarship terms vary from one to four years, depending on the circumstances of the applicant.
- Students who have been awarded an Alberta Innovates Graduate Student Scholarship must complete annual and final reports through the term of their award and post-award reports after the end of the award.
- Multi-year scholarships are renewed annually after the first year upon satisfactory reporting by the student.
- For those not yet registered in a graduate program at Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE), your eligibility to apply for the Alberta Innovates GSS is contingent upon meeting all eligibility requirements for admission to a CUE graduate program.
Offered Benefits
This scholarship offer $26000 per year up to two years.
Application Process
A complete application includes:
- CUEs-AB-Innovates-GSS-Application-2025-26-FILLABLE – for questions related to the content of each section, applicants are encouraged to seek advice from their supervisor or department.
- Up-to-date transcripts of the applicant’s complete academic record. Include all post-secondary institutions you have attended along with a Concordia University of Edmonton transcript showing courses currently in progress (IP).
- Two letters of reference. Please ensure that the letter is typewritten on letterhead, signed, dated, and includes contact information. Letters of reference may be submitted in one of two ways:
a. In person (HA 120) – reference letters submitted in person must be in a sealed envelope with the name of the referee written across the sealed flap.
b. Email to – reference letters must be emailed directly from the referee’s email account and be sent as a PDF attachment.
