Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships in International Development for Master


The University of Edinburgh, with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, is pleased to offer 15 Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships 2022 to International students for the academic year 2022-2023.

International students from eligible countries seeking to undertake an online master’s study in MSc International Development from the University of Edinburgh are eligible candidates for this scholarship. This scholarship award will cover the tuition fee and will be awarded on the basis of the academic merit of the candidate and the potential impact of the work on the development of the candidate’s home country.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: International students from Bangladesh, Belize, Cameroon, Eswatini, Ghana, India, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, The Gambia, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, and Zambia are eligible to apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: MSc International Development (Online) programme offered at Edinburgh can be applied for.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be a citizen of or be granted refugee status from an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.

Offered Benefits

The University of Edinburgh will provide the successfully selected candidates a tuition fee scholarship for up to 3 years of MSc study.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Students are required to apply to the online master’s degree via the University’s course finder. Students must apply for the scholarship through the CSC’s online application form.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • At least one reference
  • An offer letter
  • Full transcripts detailing all your higher education qualifications
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must normally hold a degree in an appropriate subject, with an excellent or very good classification (equivalent to first or upper second class honors in the UK).
  • Language Requirement: The students must demonstrate a level of English language competency that will enable them to succeed in their studies, regardless of their nationality or country of residence.
