Under the 2nd Cohort, HEED-Africa will offer 12 PhD Students Academic Mobility Scholarship to pursue academic studies at one of the Host Universities. Thus, HEED-Africa calls for outstanding PhD students to apply for 2nd Cohort Academic Mobility Scholarship-2020/2022 in the following PhD programme field of studies on the basis of 6 months up to 36 months mobility scholarship duration. Applicants before choosing the Hosting University and hosting PhD programme field of study, it is strongly recommended that applicants should first check and match the available PhD programme semester-based courses and PhD research areas at each of the Host Universities.

The HEED-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme supports PhD
programme exchange students to attend PhD study courses or
undertake PhD dissertation related activities at one of the partner
host universities in a form of credit-seeking or degree-seeking for a
duration of 6 months up to 36 months. Thus, applicants should
choice a mobility scholarship type to pursue their PhD studies in
one of the following academic mobility types:

  • A. Credit-Seeking: It is a Doctorate Student Mobility
    Scholarship for 6 or 11 months in one of the Host
    Universities, leading to academic recognition of the study credit
    results obtained at the Host University towards a PhD degree
    programme at the Home University.
  • B. Degree-Seeking: It is a Doctorate Student Mobility
    Scholarship for 18 or 36 months in one of the Host
    Universities, to complete a full PhD degree at the Host University
    or Home University or a joint PhD degree.

HEED Africa-2nd Cohort Doctorate Students Academic Mobility Scholarship for PhD Founded in 2002, Kyambogo University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Kampala (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Central Region. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the PhD Students Academic Mobility
Scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria
at the time of applications.
→ Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries
covered by the Programme.
→ For Target Group I: Be registered or admitted in or having
obtained a Higher Education degree or equivalent from one
of the following five partner universities.

Offered Benefits

In this Second Cohort Call, HEED-Africa will offer 12 PhD
Students Academic Mobility Scholarships on a competitive basis
to outstanding candidates from eligible African countries. For
selected PhD students, the HEED-Africa scholarship will cover:

  • Economic class roundtrip flight ticket;
  • Insurance coverage (Health, accident and travel);
  • A monthly subsistence allowance of 900 Euros per month
    for the scholarship duration;
  • One-off settling in allowance of 900 Euros upon arrival to
    cover installation costs;
  • An extra 900 Euros allowance to female PhD student per
    academic year for mobility durations equal or longer than 2
    academic years;

Application Process

Doctorate Students Mobility Scholarship applicants must fulfil
the following application procedures depending on the type of
mobility PhD programmes and target groups.
• Target Group I applicants must be enrolled in a PhD
programme at one of the five partner universities;
• Target Group II applicants must be enrolled in a PhD
programme at any institutions established in one of the
eligible African countries;
• Must fulfil all scholarship eligibility criteria.
• Read carefully the Guidelines for Applicants;
• Identify the Target Group to which you belongs, the
scholarship type;
• Select your Host University, identify the field of study and
select the courses to be attended;
• Collect all mandatory application documents to fill in the
online Application Form;
• Create a Log-in Account in HEED-Africa website in order to
access the Online Application Form and submit your
application with all mandatory documents.
