CERC Migration Journalism Fellowship Program, 2024 Established in 2003, Metropolitan University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Sylhet (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Metropolitan University (MU) is a very small (uniRank enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Metropolitan University (MU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 16 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 60-70% making this Bangladeshi higher education organization a somewhat selective institution.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All countries
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The fellowship will be awarded to journalists with a focus on immigration, migrant integration, or related national/international issues.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
    • Be staff or freelance journalists who regularly cover politics, society, culture, or the economy.
    • Have a minimum of five years of media work experience with examples of work that cover complex, international issues.
    • Have a specific area of migration research that interests them.

    • Preferred academic host from the CERC Migration research team.
    • Proposed residency dates (March 1 – November 30, 2025, excluding July and August).
  3. Two or three relevant work samples (PDF or links for digital content).
  4. Optional recommendation letter from a media outlet supervisor/editor.
