The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, in partnership with the Carlsberg Foundation, is seeking applications for a Humanities PhD Fellowship. This fellowship entails conducting a foundational research project within humanities and is open to all fields and areas of research within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Applicants must hold or expect to obtain a Master’s degree in humanities from a Danish university by the employment date. They should demonstrate proficiency in English with appropriate language test scores if English is not their first language. Candidates must also meet the PhD study requirements, including active participation in research environments. All nationalities are welcome to apply.

Carlsberg Foundation Humanities PhD Fellowships in Denmark Established in 1974, Aalborg Universitet (Aalborg University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Aalborg (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), North Denmark Region.   • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Aalborg University.
  • Admissible Criteria:
  • To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Hold a Master’s degree in humanities, preferably from a Danish university, or expect to obtain one before the employment date.
    • Provide a statement from a thesis supervisor, verified transcripts, thesis contract, and documentation of the date of the exam.
    • Participate in active research environments, including stays at other research institutions, private research enterprises, etc.
    • If planning to complete a doctoral thesis in English and the first language is not English, provide documentation of passing IELTS (band score: 7) or TOEFL (paper-based: 600, internet-based: 100) with tests no more than five years old.
