To be eligible for the PhD Studentships at the Institute for Astronomy (IfA), applicants must hold, or expect to obtain, a degree in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field. They should demonstrate a strong academic background and motivation for research in astrophysics. The studentships are open to both UK and international candidates. For the Career Development Scholarship (2026), applicants must identify as being of Black heritage, including mixed Black backgrounds.
