The purpose of the Indigenous Manitoba Wildlife Fellowship Endowment Fund is to provide financial assistance, based on the criteria and academic performance, to support research students (Canadian Indigenous People, Canadian Citizens and permanent residents of Canada). Preference will be given to an Indigenous student who is in Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctorate Studies or is a member of a post-secondary Indigenous educational institute focussed on the conservation of wildlife in Northern Manitoba.

Eligibility Criteria

This fund is offered to undergraduate, graduate and doctorate students who are enrolled in an accredited Manitoba-based college or university that is recognized by the Canadian Wildlife Foundation. Applicants must be Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada who are pursuing research at a Manitoba-based college or university. Students must be undertaking research concerning the conservation of wildlife in Northern Manitoba (Canadian boreal forest and/or arctic environments).



Offered Benefits

The value of the IMWFEF is up to a maximum of $5,000 but may exceed this amount upon the discretion of the Canadian Wildlife Foundation. The final amount of the fund will be determined by the Canadian Wildlife Foundation based on the relevance and merits of the proposed application and the amount of financial assistance available in a given year.

There are three parts to this fund: the application form, the reference’s reports and the transcripts. All parts of the application must be completed and received by the Canadian Wildlife Foundation by the May 31st deadline. Please complete the online application form first.

Applicants are requested to submit up to three (3) references, one of which should be from a course instructor or the supervisor of the research project. Your selected references should be familiar with your research and experience.

We recommend that you order your official transcripts well in advance of the application deadline as it may take several weeks to receive these documents.

All applications will be reviewed by a multi-disciplinary committee so please keep technical language to a minimum. Your application should be easily understood by any committee members
