The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) offers Entrance Awards to recognize academic excellence and community involvement in students entering eligible full-time BCIT programs. These awards are competitive and aim to support deserving Canadian students beginning their post-secondary journey.

Founded in 1960, British Columbia Institute of Technology is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Burnaby (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), British Columbia. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training, British Columbia, British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a BCIT Entrance Award:
- You must have applied for admission to BCIT and been assigned a BCIT ID. You do not need to be accepted into your program by the Entrance Awards application deadline.
- Where applicable, you must meet the award-specific eligibility criteria outlined under the Eligible Program(s) and Award-specific Information sections in the list of BCIT Entrance Awards and descriptions.[PDF]
- You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- You must commence full-time studies ( 60% or more of a 100% course load) between May 1, 2025 and April 30, 2026.
- You must remain registered as a full-time student during the academic period for which an award is given.
- You must maintain satisfactory academic standing during the academic period for which an award is given.
- If you are under disciplinary review or placed on a student performance contract, you may be restricted from receiving an entrance award disbursement.
- Your entrance award application must be received at the Student Financial Aid and Awards office by 4:00 p.m. on the earliest deadline date of your selected entrance awards.

Step 1: Review the eligibility criteria

Step 2: Determine your eligibility
Read each entrance award description listed in List of Entrance Awards and descriptions [PDF] and determine which awards you are eligible to apply for.
Step 3: Prepare your application
Complete the following application forms and be sure to include all supporting documentation requested.

Step 4: Gather your transcripts
Both high school AND post secondary transcripts are required with all applications.
- Include your high school transcript*.
- CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT applicants must include an official high school transcript showing all final grade 11 and grade 12 marks and mid-term marks for any grade 12 courses that are not yet completed. Contact your high school for transcripts showing both mid-term AND final marks.
- ALL OTHER APPLICANTS (not current high school students) must include a copy of their FINAL high school transcript. If you attended high school in BC or the Yukon, you may be able to obtain a copy of your transcript through the BC Student Transcripts Service (STS) or by contacting your high school or school district.
- Photocopies are accepted.
- Report cards are NOT accepted unless accompanied by your official high school transcript.
- English translations must accompany transcripts that are in another language.
- Include your transcripts from every post-secondary institution you have attended*.
- You must include the front and back sides of your transcripts.
- Photocopies of official transcripts are accepted.
- Unofficial transcripts or copies of certificates are NOT accepted.
- Transcripts provided must include final grades.
- English translations must accompany transcripts that are in another language.
*You are responsible for submitting documentation (a copy of your high school transcript, copies of transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended, translations of documents) with your entrance awards application. All transcripts and documents submitted for BCIT admission are the property of the Registrar’s Office and are part of a student’s official file and are not normally returned or photocopied for applicants. If you are a BCIT graduate, a copy of your BCIT transcript or an unofficial statement of marks is still required.
