British Council Research Fellowships Programme in UK


International Early-career Researchers are invited by the UK Collaborative on Development Research to apply for the Research Fellowships Programme organized for Cultural Heritage/Climate Action conducted in the UK for the academic year 2022-2023.

This funding opportunity is supported by the British Council and is exclusively offered to international research fellows. The applicants who undertake research studies in Climate Connection or Cultural Heritage Protection at any institute or university eligible for UKRI funding will be considered. Winning candidates will be awarded the cost of their research program.

A fine chance for applicants in the UK.The UK Collaborative on Development Research (UKCDR) is a group of government departments and research funders working in international development. It is a neutral and impartial entity governed by the Strategic Coherence of the ODA-funded Research (SCOR) Board that believes in accelerating global development through the power of research and knowledge.

UK Collaborative on Development Research (UKCDR) has brought UK research funders together to discuss priorities and coordinate efforts to garner maximum impact for over a decade. The organization exists to amplify the value and impact of research for global development by promoting coherence, collaboration, and joint action among UK research funders.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Students from international countries are eligible to apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Applicants can apply for the research study programme in the Climate Connection or Cultural Heritage Protection field at any UK higher education institutions (HEIs), Independent Research Organisations (IROs), or other institutes.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must enroll in an institute, university, or school eligible for UKRI Funding.

The candidates selected by the deciding authority, i.e. the British Council, will be provided support in-kind and funding committed to the project to the degree of justified costs.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: The applicants must apply for admission to their choice of institute. Then to apply for this funding scheme, students must refer to this page and apply according to the study programme they have chosen.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present submit the respective application forms for the funding, and additional prepare commonly asked documents for admission, such as:
  • CV
  • Motivated letter
  • Cover letter
  • Personal statement
  • Admission essay
  • Academic transcripts
  • Standardized test results (mostly optional)
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must meet the entry requirements of the university. Program-specific academic requirements, if any, must also be met.
  • Language Requirement: The students must meet the language proficiency of the university. TOELF, IELTS, PTE, etc are commonly accepted across many British colleges, universities, and institutes.
