The British Council is happy to offer the British Council International Scholarships for Women in STEM at the University of Strathclyde. The scholarships will be awarded for the academic year 2023-2024.

The scholarship is exclusively for female international students from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam. The applicants must have enrolled in an eligible MSc programme to be considered. Five winners will be selected on the basis of financial need to be awarded this scholarship worth tuition fees, living costs, and more such benefits.

  • Eligible Course or Subjects:  The students can apply for MSc Applied Statistics in Health Science, MSc Artificial Intelligence and Applications, MSc Biomedical Engineering, MSc Civil Engineering with Structural Engineering and Project Management, MSc Climate Change Adaptation, MSc Clinical Health Psychology, MSc Digital Health Systems, MSc Digital Manufacturing, MSc Economics and Policy of Energy and Climate Change, MSc Global Environmental Law and Governance, MSc Health Analysis, Policy and Management, MSc Renewable Energy and Decarbonisation Technologies, MSc Sustainable Engineering: Advanced Construction Technologies and BIM, or MSc Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment offered at the University of Strathclyde. 
  • Eligibility Criteria:  To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be women. 
  • The applicants must be passport holders of Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam. 
  • The applicants must demonstrate a case for financial support need.
  • The applicants must not have previously studied at a degree level or higher in the UK or lived recently in the UK.

Offered Benefits

The five successfully selected winners will be awarded a scholarship that covers full tuition fees, monthly stipends, a return economy class ticket, and other costs such as IELTS exam fee, visa application, NHS surcharge, and key study materials.

Application Process

  • How to Apply:  The students must first submit an admission application via the  university portal . All eligible candidates will be considered to be awarded the scholarship. 
  • Supporting Documents:  The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Certified copies of qualifications 
  • A copy of your passport 
  • A copy of your sponsor letter/scholarship award (if appropriate/available) 
  • CV
  • Personal Statement
  • Portfolio 
  • Admission Requirements:  The applicants must have a minimum second-class (2:2) Honours degree or overseas equivalent in a field relevant to their applied MSc programme. 
  • Language Requirement:  The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • IELTS – 6.0
