BI Norwegian Business School offers PhD scholarships in disciplines within the field of business administration.

The PhD specialization in Finance focuses on developing doctoral students' theoretical knowledge and methodological skills required to become successful researchers in the area of finance. We encourage applications from students with solid quantitative skills and a strong background in disciplines such as finance, economics, statistics, and mathematics, who are interested in an academic career in research and teaching, and possess strong communication and analytical skills. We welcome research interests and project proposals, theoretical or empirical, in areas such as asset pricing, corporate finance, corporate governance, portfolio management, banking, market microstructure, experimental finance, and behavioral finance. After successful completion of the program we expect our graduates to be employed at leading academic institutions, research departments of international or national regulatory organizations, or investment firms.

The doctoral programme leads to a Ph.D. degree and is a four-year full-time study programme, including 25% teaching responsibilities. The programme features six areas of specialisation: Finance, Economics, Strategic Management, Marketing, Leadership and Organization as well as Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

BI Norwegian Business School - PhD scholarships Established in 1943, Handelshøyskolen BI (BI Norwegian Business School) is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Oslo (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants). This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Bergen Trondheim, Stavanger. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Kunnskapsdepartementet, Norge (Ministry of Education, Norway), Handelshøyskolen BI (BI) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Handelshøyskolen BI (BI) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have completed a two year (120 ECTS) Master’s Degree with thesis work (preferably a Master of Science) to be considered for a scholarship. An MBA degree does not fulfill the requirements for admission. A grade point average of B or higher is required. If applicants are otherwise equally qualified, female applicants will be given preference.

Offered Benefits

The four-year scholarship is set according to the Norwegian State Salary Scale and currently pays NOK 425,400 annually. The position is linked to The Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (Statens Pensjonskasse). The scholarship involves 25% TA/RA responsibilities.
