To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be international students who have completed or are due to complete an eligible Australian qualification, such as a Study Abroad program, University Foundation program, Australian Senior Secondary Certificate, or an AQF-recognised Certificate, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent study before commencing at ECU. They must meet ECU’s entry requirements, receive and accept an offer for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate course starting in Semester Two, 2025, and study onshore in Western Australia.

Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a public university in Western Australia. Named in honor of Edith Dircksey Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament, ECU is known for its strong focus on industry-relevant teaching and research. The university has three main campuses in Western Australia: Joondalup, Mount Lawley, and Bunbury, and an additional international campus in Sri Lanka. Australian Qualification International Scholarships Founded in 1991, Edith Cowan University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Joondalup (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Western Australia. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Mt Lawley and Bunbury. This 28 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to all international students (excluding Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents, and New Zealand Citizens).

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship applies to selected undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs across Arts & Humanities, Business & Law, Education, Engineering, Science, Medical & Health Sciences, and Nursing & Midwifery (with some course exclusions).

  • Admissible Criteria:

    • Must have completed, or be due to complete prior to ECU commencement, an eligible Australian qualification/program such as:

      • Study Abroad or Student Exchange program with an Australian university

      • ECU-recognised University Foundation program

      • Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (e.g. WACE, SACE, VCE, HSC, QCE, ACT, SSC, TCE, NTCET)

      • AQF Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate degree, Undergraduate or Postgraduate qualification from an Australian Registered Training Provider

      • Equivalent of ECU’s 60 credit points from another Australian institution

    • Must meet ECU’s course entry requirements and receive an offer to study an eligible ECU undergraduate or postgraduate course commencing in Semester Two, 2025.

    • Must study onshore at ECU, Western Australia.

    • Must not be in receipt of another ECU international scholarship (e.g., 2025 ECU International Masters Scholarship or International Undergraduate Scholarship).

Offered Benefits

  • Recipients will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees for the full duration of their eligible ECU course.

  • Applied directly to tuition fees on a unit-by-unit basis at the census date.

  • Provides valuable financial support, making higher education in Australia more accessible for international students.

Application Process

  • No separate application is required for this scholarship. Students will be automatically assessed by ECU’s Admissions Office upon application for an eligible course.

  • Successful applicants will receive a separate scholarship letter along with their course offer.

To accept the scholarship:

  1. Meet all conditions in the Letter of Offer.

  2. Accept the Letter of Offer and pay the indicative deposit plus Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
