The scholarship is open to qualified medical graduates in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery from developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Applicants must be between 30 and 54 years of age, have completed all formal training, and possess at least one year of surgical practice and teaching experience.

The Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery (ASOHNS) is the peak professional body representing ear, nose, throat, head and neck surgeons in Australia. It is dedicated to advancing excellence in clinical practice, surgical education, training, and research in otolaryngology.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the organization related to OHNS surgical education, including but not limited to FESS, Head & Neck Surgery, Temporal Bone surgery, or other ASOHNS-approved courses.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
    • Be a graduate of a recognized school of medicine
    • Be at least 30 years old and under 55 years at the time of application
    • Have completed all formal training and have a minimum of one year of surgical practice and teaching experience
    • Submit the application from their intended permanent location
    • Provide three independently prepared letters of recommendation (including one from a department chair/division head or an appropriate senior professional)
    • Submit a one-page essay outlining work setting, patient population, quality improvement activities, career goals, and plans to transfer learning
    • Provide evidence of institutional support from their home organization
    • Agree to use the scholarship in the designated year and submit a post-training report
    • Meet visa requirements for travel to Australia
