The Ashling Murphy Memorial Entrance Scholarship 2025 is now open for applications! Jointly awarded by Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO), this €4,000 bursary honors Ashling’s memory by recognizing exceptional talent in traditional Irish music among first-year Bachelor of Education students.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be incoming first-year students at Mary Immaculate College who have placed one of the eligible Bachelor of Education programs as their first choice on their CAO application. They must demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency in Irish traditional music through a video recording, meet the entry requirements of their chosen program, and fully register in the same year as the application.Mary Immaculate College (MIC) is a renowned institution specializing in education and the liberal arts. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Ireland
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is open to students enrolled in one of the following teacher education (primary) programs:
    • Bachelor of Education International (MI004)
    • Bachelor of Education Primary Teaching (MI005/MI006)
    • B Ed in Education & Psychology (MI008)
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  1. Apply for a first-year position in one of the eligible programs and place it as their top choice on their CAO application.
  2. Demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency in one or more Irish traditional musical instruments through a video recording.
  3. Meet all entry requirements for their chosen program.
  4. Accept their CAO place and register fully in the same year as their scholarship application.
  5. Agree to act as an ambassador for MIC and INTO in music-related and other activities during the scholarship year.

Application Process

Applicants must submit their applications directly to Mary Immaculate College using either the English or Irish application form, quoting their CAO number. Additionally, applicants are required to provide a video demonstrating their musical talent.
