Applications are now open for the ASEAN-Pacific Youth Mental Health Fellowship Program, hosted by Orygen Global. The fellowship begins on 22 January 2026 and aims to enhance youth leadership in mental health.

Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old by 22 January 2026 and be citizens or residents of eligible ASEAN-Pacific countries. Applications must be submitted in English, and candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to youth mental health advocacy and leadership.

Orygen Global is an international initiative of Orygen, Australia’s leading organization dedicated to youth mental health research, policy, and innovation. It works to empower young people worldwide through capacity building, advocacy, and collaboration with global partners. Orygen Global supports youth-led initiatives, promotes mental health awareness, and helps develop effective, evidence-based approaches to improve mental health systems across the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Indonesia, Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Independent State of Samoa, Kingdom of Tonga, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Niue, Philippines, Republic of Fiji, Republic of Kiribati, Republic of Nauru, Republic of Palau, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Republic of Vanuatu, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tuvalu, and Vietnam.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The fellowship will be awarded for projects and training related to youth mental health advocacy, leadership, and community engagement.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age as of 22 January 2026.

  • Be a citizen or resident of one of the eligible ASEAN-Pacific countries.

  • Submit their application in English by 20 November 2025 (2:00 PM AEDT / GMT +11).

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to youth mental health advocacy and leadership.

  • Develop and submit an original advocacy project proposal (use of AI tools like ChatGPT for content creation will negatively impact scoring).

Offered Benefits

Selected Fellows will join an international network of youth mental health advocates, gain access to leadership development and mentorship, and participate in specialized training sessions designed to build skills in advocacy, communication, and project implementation. The fellowship officially commences on 22 January 2026.
