Arrell Food Institute recognizes global leaders who are ensuring future food security for the planet, and hopes to inspire new leaders to take bold steps towards change. Scientific excellence and community engagement are necessary to overcome the challenges our world will face in feeding 9 billion people and beyond.

Awarded annually since 2018, the Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards recognize unique approaches and achievements of individuals and organizations around the globe. The two prizes of $100,000 are awarded in these categories: research innovation and community engagement innovation.

Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards 2024 for Course Established in 1964, University of Guelph is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Guelph (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Ontario. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Ridgetown, Kemptville. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ontario, University of Guelph (U of G) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Eligibility Criteria

  • The individual or group being nominated will have made exceptionally significant and documented contributions to either our scientific understanding related to food production, distribution and sales, or human nutrition/consumption; and/or at the community level in markedly improving nutrition, including access to, or distribution of food.
  • The nomination package must clearly demonstrate how the individual or group being nominated played a critical leadership role in achieving the above-noted contributions.
  • The nomination package should not be a proposal or a request for funding.
  • Nominees must be able to attend the award ceremony and ancillary events.

Offered Benefits

Two prizes of $100,000 CAD each, are awarded annually.
