The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) is Ireland’s leading body of experts in the sciences and humanities. Founded in 1785, it’s a learned society and a publisher, with its library and extensive collections being a major national research resource. The RIA’s work includes promoting research, publishing academic journals and books, and advising the government on scientific and cultural matters. It’s an all-island body, meaning its members and work span both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
