The University of Alberta’s Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize is an initiative toward financially assisting to meritorious doctoral students. It will provide immediate usable funds to make a University of Alberta’s education more affordable for students.

This scholarship is a competitive program available for those enrolled as full-time doctoral students in any field of study at UAlberta. This prize is dedicated to recognizing the emerging talent in the field of research.

Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize for International Students at University of Alberta, Canada for Master Founded in 1908, University of Alberta is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Edmonton (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Alberta. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: There is no restriction on citizenship.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: All majors
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be selected for this program, you must fulfil the following requirements:
  • Must be a full-time doctoral student
  • Must have completed at least 24 months (2 years) in their doctoral program by December 31, 2019, and have completed no more than six years. For students who transferred from a master’s to a doctoral program, the time spent in the master’s program counts towards the time spent in the doctoral.
  • All fields of study are eligible for funding
  • A recipient may hold the award only once
  • Must be actively engaged in thesis research at the time of the award offering
  • There is no minimum GPA requirement however selection is secondarily based on academic merit

Offered Benefits

The University of Alberta is awarding funding for deserving applicants to support their study at the university. Selected candidates will be awarded the $5,000 award.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Candidates need to download the application form to participate in the award. To send your application for this prize, you must be nominated to FGSR by your home department.
  • Supporting Documents: A copy of application form, one letter of reference, curriculum vitae, and up-to-date unofficial U of A transcript must be sent to your department for internal adjudication. Note: The Letter of Reference to Support Application for Graduate Awards Form must be completed and signed by the student’s supervisor.

  • Language Requirement: Students must meet all the English language requirements to study at UAlberta.
