A.T. Anderson Memorial Scholarship Program is aimed at supporting Native American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Indigenous Canadian students pursuing STEM-related degrees. It honors the legacy of A.T. Anderson, one of the founders of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES).

Establised in 1977, growing the AISES membership above our current 5,900 individual members is key to achieving our mission. AISES supports 230 affiliated pre-college schools, 196 chartered college and university chapters, 3 tribal chapters, and 18 professional chapters in the U.S. and Canada. We promote the highest standards of education and professional excellence to widen the STEM workforce and grow sector support. We highlight the geographic, economic, and social aspects of STEM education and careers. Application Deadline: April 30, 2024

Brief Description

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to citizens or descendants of citizens from federal or state recognized American Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Villages, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, or Indigenous communities of Canada.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing any STEM-related degree such as Architecture, Mathematics, Medical Sciences, Physical Science, Technology, Nursing, Engineering, or Natural Resources at an accredited two-year or four-year college/university.
  • Admissible Criteria: To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be full-time undergraduate or graduate students for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Possess tribal citizenship or descent from a recognized indigenous community, supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Hold a valid membership with AISES at the time of application.

Offered Benefits

  • Undergraduate students will receive $1,000 for the academic year.
  • Graduate students will receive $2,000 for the academic year.
