The AIG Foundation, in partnership with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, invites applications for the prestigious AIG Fellowship. This fully funded programme offers senior public servants from Africa the opportunity to spend up to six months at Oxford, engaging in policy research, academic reflection, and knowledge exchange.

The fellowship is open to senior public servants in Africa who hold leadership positions such as Director Generals or Chief Executive Officers. Applicants must have at least six years remaining before retirement and demonstrate a strong record of impactful leadership, including successful reforms in sectors like health, education, finance, or security. A minimum of a master’s degree, recent professional development, and endorsement from a high-ranking official are required. Candidates must also have a clean disciplinary record and pass security clearance.

AIG Fellowships in United Kingdom Founded in 1096, University of Oxford is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Oxford (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), South East England. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: African countries
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The fellowship will be awarded in public policy, public administration, or related fields offered by the Blavatnik School of Government.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Position/Level: Must be serving as a Director General or Chief Executive Officer within the public service.

  • Service Longevity: Must have at least six years remaining before mandatory retirement.

  • Demonstrated Leadership: Must show measurable impact on public service delivery within the last five years.

  • Strategic Influence: Must lead strategic initiatives in key sectors such as Health, Education, Agriculture, Finance, Energy, Justice, Defence, or Security and have experience in cross-functional collaboration.

  • Educational Qualification: Must hold a minimum of a master’s degree or an equivalent professional qualification, with evidence of continued professional development in the last three years.

  • Organisational Endorsement: Must provide formal endorsement from a high-ranking public sector official (e.g., Head of Civil Service, Minister, or Governor).

  • Ethical Standing: Must have a clean disciplinary record and pass security clearance.
