Advanced Research Opportunities Program (AROP) in Germany Founded in 1870, Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aachen University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Aachen (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), North Rhine-Westphalia.   • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by RWTH Aachen University
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must meet all the following criteria:
    • Doctoral candidates or postdocs of strategically relevant international universities or research institutions
    • RWTH partner institutions or those planning to initiate a partnership with RWTH
    • Possession of an invitation letter from RWTH Aachen University
    • Strategic relevance of the home institution in accordance with RWTH’s internationalization strategy
    • Prospects of building sustainable long-term collaboration or strengthening existing partnerships.

Application Process

Interested applicants must submit the following application documents in English:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Statement of purpose outlining the research project, duration of stay, expected outcome, and future perspective of the cooperation
  • Invitation letter issued by a professor of RWTH Aachen University
  • Research schedule indicating the intended time frame and specific research activities
  • List of recent publications
  • Applicants must secure the support of an RWTH Aachen University researcher willing to host them as a supervisor for their research project. If not already in contact with an RWTH researcher, applicants should identify suitable researchers and initiate contact with a brief research proposal.
