Australian Catholic University (ACU) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Vice Chancellor’s PhD Excellence Scholarship 2025. This prestigious scholarship supports outstanding international students commencing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Ministry at ACU. Designed to attract high-achieving candidates, the scholarship offers a fully funded package including a generous living stipend, tuition fee waiver, health insurance, and relocation support.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be international students applying for full-time enrolment in a Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Ministry program at ACU. They must propose a research project that aligns with the university’s strategic research priorities and be applying within the faculties of Education and Arts, Health Sciences, Law and Business, or Theology and Philosophy.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects:

    • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

    • Doctor of Ministry
      in any of the following faculties:

    • Education and Arts

    • Health Sciences

    • Law and Business

    • Theology and Philosophy

  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must:

    • Be classified as international students for fee purposes

    • Be applying for a full-time Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Ministry program

    • Propose a research project aligned with ACU’s research priorities

    • Not hold any other ACU scholarship or award

    • Comply with ACU’s Higher Degree Research Policy and Research Training Program Scholarship Policy.

Offered Benefits

Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive scholarship package, including:

  • Stipend: AUD $33,511 per annum (2025 rate, indexed annually) for up to 3.5 years

  • Tuition Fees: Full tuition fee waiver for up to 3.5 years

  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC): For single cover policy

  • Relocation Allowance: Up to AUD $2,000 for overseas relocation

Application Process

Interested applicants will be automatically considered for the Vice Chancellor’s PhD Excellence Scholarship when they apply for a PhD or Doctor of Ministry at ACU. No separate scholarship application is required.
