The Africa Center of Excellence for Water Management (ACEWM) is an initiative of the World Bank Group and the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia through the Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) Regional Center hosted by the Addis Ababa University (AAU).

The program is a full-time study and teaching takes place through lectures, seminars, and field-based studies. In addition, teaching may be conducted through video conferences and technology-enhanced learning approaches. The language of instruction through out the study is English.

ACEWM MSc Program in Water Management for African Students for Master Founded in 1950, Addis Ababa University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Addis Ababa (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Education, Ethiopia, Addis Ababa University (AAU) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. Addis Ababa University (AAU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 69 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All applicants’ undergraduate Cumulative GPA must not be less than 2.75 for males and not less than 2.50 for females on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicants who have completed their degree/diploma from foreign universities(other than Ethiopia) are required to obtain their degree/diploma equivalent from the Ethiopian Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency(HERQA)before admission.(Academic documents authentication by the relevant office is mandatory during admission
  • Applicants must have sufficient knowledge of the English language and provide proof of proficiency.
  • The age limit at the time of application for M.Sc. applicants is 30 years or less.
  • Applicants are required to take and pass the Graduate Admission Test (GAT) (http://www.aau.edu.et/blog/announcement-_-graduate-admission-test-gat/)

Offered Benefits

  • ACEWM will provide a limited number full scholarships for competent applicants: A monthly stipend of 500 USD(Equivalent amount paid in ETB).The stipend includes accommodation.
  • ACEWM will have a modest funding to support the research projects of all applicants.
  • ACEWM encourages applicants with their own funding.
