Academic Medical Centre of the Universiteit van Amsterdam Merit Scholarship for Non-EU/EEA Students for Master Established in 1632, Universiteit van Amsterdam (University of Amsterdam) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Amsterdam (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), North Holland. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap, Nederland (Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Netherlands), Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 30,000-34,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: non-EU/EEA countries
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for the Master’s program in Medical Informatics
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants are eligible for the AMS scholarship if they:
  • hold non-EU/EEA passport;
  • are not entitled to receive a Dutch study grant or loan
  • are not eligible to pay the reduced tuition fee rate for EEA students at the UvA;
  • do not receive a full coverage scholarship for the same period of study as the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship;
  • have been (or will be) admitted to the (Master’s) program of Medical Informatics at the AMC -UvA.

Offered Benefits

The Universiteit van Amsterdam will provide a limited number of scholarships in the Netherlands.

  • Selected students admitted to the Master’s program in Medical Informatics can be awarded a € 4,000 scholarship.
  • The award is € 4,000 or a proportional amount if students start the program in February.

Application Process

Amsterdam Merit Scholarships are only awarded to applicants admitted to one of the (Master’s) programs of the AMC-UvA.

  • How to Apply: Applicants wishing to apply for an AMS scholarship should upload their application to the International Office via the  Digital Student Service Desk.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants must upload all the following required documents:
  • A letter of motivation (maximum 500 words)
  • A letter of recommendation by your dean, teacher, or academic supervisor
  • a description of your extracurricular activities
  • Admission Requirements: All applicants must meet the entry requirements before starting an application for master’s programs of the AMC-UvA.
  • Language Requirement: All students with qualifications from outside the Netherlands (EEA and non-EEA) who are non-native English speakers are required to have passed an English proficiency test. The following tests are accepted as proof of proficiency in English:
  • TOEFL, minimum score: 100- sub-scores Reading 24, Listening 22, Speaking 25, and Writing 24.
  • Cambridge C1 advanced, a minimum score of 190
  • IELTS, minimum score: 7, sub scores 6, 5.
