The University Of Florida Association Of Black Alumni is proud to offer the ABA Endowed Scholarship. This award is open to all subjects and all courses at the sophomore, junior, or senior level. $1,000 is available for each award, and several scholarships will be given out annually.

ABA Endowed Scholarship at University Of Florida Association for Bachelor Founded in 1853, University of Florida is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Gainesville (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Florida. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, University of Florida (UF) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Florida (UF) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 166 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 40-50% making this US higher education organization a averagely selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

The Association of Black Alumni (ABA) is an important part of the University of Florida’s alumni community. We take pride in our longstanding history and work to support our alumni, students, and the Black community at UF. Our association is a relevant and integral part of UF’s tapestry, and we will continue to advocate for our community and its members.

Application Process

Please attach the following documents to this application as a pdf and return to by Friday, September 9, 2022, by 11:59 p.m. If selected, the applicant must be available to attend the Black Alumni Reunion, on October 7th or 8th to receive the award. Selected recipients will be notified by phone and email by Friday, September 30, 2022.

To apply for the ABAU Scholarship, you must provide the following:

  • An unofficial or official transcript
  • A headshot photograph to be used in the scholarship program (as well as ABA publications to include social media, marketing, and/or websites)
  • A resume (two-page max)
  • Written documentation of community hours served from a non-profit organization. (Must be on letterhead) The deadline to apply is Friday, September 9, 2022, by 11:59 p.m.
