UICC’s Technical Fellowships provide cancer professionals the chance to gain new knowledge, skills and techniques in cancer control through short learning visits of two weeks to two months’ duration. This specific fellowship opportunity was originally launched in 1976, and was called the International Cancer Research Technology Transfer awards (ICRETT), and has facilitated knowledge exchange for the last four decades.

Offered Benefits

  • Fellowship award amounts are calculated by UICC based on the fellowship duration and published scales for living costs and economy flight estimates from the home to host countries. For more information, refer to the application guidelines.

Applicants are generally expected to identify and contact potential host supervisors themselves. However, if they are unable to find a host supervisor, they should reach out to   for information on the organisations listed below that have expressed interest in hosting Fellows. Representatives from cancer centres or institutions interested in hosting UICC Fellows should contact   for more information. 

  • National Cancer Centre Korea (NCCK), is a Fellowship partner and host that supports applicants wishing to visit it. 
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom. 
  • Princess Margaret Cancer Center, Canada is a Fellowship partner and host that supports applicants wishing to visit it. 
  • Hospital Moinhos de Vento, Brazil
  • A.C. Camargo Cancer Center, Brazil
  • King Hussein Cancer Center , Jordan
  • University of Colorado Cancer Center, United States
  • Hospital General Universitario de Elche, Spain
  • Baheya Foundation and Hospitals, Egypt

UICC also provides as an exclusive benefit for its members tailored support to applicants from UICC member organisations. This support includes assistance in identifying potential host supervisors through UICC's extensive network of cancer control experts. Applicants from UICC member organisations are encouraged to contact   with their CV and a detailed description of the skills they wish to acquire during the fellowship until 22 May 2026 at the latest.
