The Road to Research Scholarship is for international applicants who are eligible to commence the Macquarie Master of Research (MRes) in Sydney, Australia in Session 1 2026. This scholarship supports students undertaking short research projects of the Master of Research (MRes).

Founded in 1964, Macquarie University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large city of Sydney (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), New South Wales. Eligibility Criteria
Awards will only be available to applicants who, at the time of application:
- Are not an Australian/New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident
- Are onshore in Australia at the time of application
- Intend to reside in Sydney, Australia during their candidature
- Plan to undertake a Master of Research in January 2026 (S1 2026)
- Are enrolling as full-time students
- Meet the English language requirements for Macquarie graduate research degrees
- Meet the admission criteria for the Master of Research (refer to schedule 2.3)
- Have confirmation of supervision from an eligible Macquarie University researcher (compulsory for FMHHS and desirable for the other faculties)
- International applicants will need a valid Student Visa in order to commence their program. If they do not have a valid Student Visa, they may commence their study on an alternative Australian visa type that permits full time study until the end of June 2027.
Offered Benefits
The scholarship comprises:
- a tuition fee offset for a maximum of one year
- a living allowance stipend of $39,700 for one year.
