Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankan students for the award of undergraduate scholarships offered by the Government of India under the Nehru Memorial Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2017-2018
Scholarships are awarded in the fields of (i) Engineering (ii) Bio Science (iii) Commerce & Management (iv) Arts (v) Fine Arts
Eligibility Criteria
The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:
(a) Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
(b) Age should be below 22 years on 18.01.2017
(c) Should have passed the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka with subjects relevant to the field applicant intends to apply.
(d) Should possess a high proficiency in English.
(e) Should be in good health and ready to live in India during the period of study.
(f) Applicant should not be an internal student (a student selected by UGC based on the G.C.E. A/L results) already registered or following a course at a university in Sri Lanka.

(Please note that students, who are selected for courses of study in sciences, should bear the laboratory fees & related charges)
Application Process
(a) i. Application should conform to the specimen form provided (Form A).
- Those who have already forwarded their applications should use “Form B” only and not need to send “Form A”. Those do not update their Z score using Form B, are considered according to the Z score mentioned in their applications.
(b) Each Applicant should submit only one application for award, and should state whether he /she has been nominated for a similar award in the past.
(d) The words “Nehru Memorial Scholarships- 2017/18” should be hand or type-written on top left corner of the envelope containing the application. (Please mention your stream below the scholarship scheme -Arts/ Commerce/ Bio Science/ Engineering /Fine Arts)
(e) Any statement in the application, which is found to be incorrect before selection, will render the applicant liable to disqualification. If such inaccuracy is found after selection it will lead to the withdrawal of the award.
(f) Any application, which is incomplete in any respect or received late, will be rejected.
