The Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Pécs is pleased to announce the Research Excellence Scholarship for the Autumn Semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. This scholarship recognizes and rewards outstanding research performance among international students who have demonstrated academic excellence through high-quality scientific work during their studies.

The scholarship is open to international students who have an active student status at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Pécs, at the time of application. Applicants must be either recipients of the Stipendium Hungaricum, Diaspora, or Scholarship for Christian Young People, or be enrolled as self-financed students. Candidates are required to demonstrate outstanding research achievements during their studies, such as publications in scientific journals, conference presentations, or other high-quality academic outputs.

Research Excellence Scholarship at University of Pécs, Hungary Founded in 1912, Pécsi Tudományegyetem (University of Pécs) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Pécs (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Baranya. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Szekszárd, Kaposvár, Szombathely, Zalaegerszeg. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Magyar Felsooktatási Akkreditációs Bizottság (Hungarian Accreditation Committee), Pécsi Tudományegyetem (PTE) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 25,000-29,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Pécsi Tudományegyetem (PTE) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities are eligible.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Pécs.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Have an active student status at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the time of application

  • Be enrolled as:

    • a Stipendium Hungaricum, Diaspora, or Scholarship for Christian Young People (SCYP) recipient, or

    • a self-financed international student

  • Have achieved outstanding research results during studies at the Faculty, such as:

    • Publication in ranked scientific journals

    • Presentation of research at academic conferences

    • Other high-quality scientific achievements

  • Applicants must not:

    • Be admitted through the central Hungarian admission system (felvi.hu)

    • Have received any program coordinator’s or dean’s warning

    • Have been subject to confirmed ethical or disciplinary procedures.

Offered Benefits

  • For self-financed students:

    • 1st place: 15% tuition fee reduction

    • 2nd place: 10% tuition fee reduction

    • 3rd place: 5% tuition fee reduction

  • For scholarship-funded students (SH, Diaspora, SCYP):

    • 1st place: EUR 500 (HUF equivalent)

    • 2nd place: EUR 300 (HUF equivalent)

    • 3rd place: EUR 100 (HUF equivalent)

  • Scholarship payments will be made in accordance with the Student Financial Regulations of the University of Pécs.

  • Applications must be submitted electronically via the Neptun study system

  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered

  • Evaluation Deadline: 31 January 2026

  • Applicants will be informed of the decision via email within five working days.
