The University of Leeds is now accepting applications for the School of Electronic & Electrical Engineering Scholarship 2026/27. This highly competitive PhD scholarship offers full tuition fee coverage and a generous maintenance grant for eligible UK and international students. Only one funded place is available, and successful applicants must be ready to commence their PhD in October 2026.

Applicants must normally hold at least a First Class or Upper Second Class (2:1) Honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Some projects may also require a Master’s degree. Candidates must meet the University of Leeds English language requirements and secure an academic offer for PhD study.

School of Electronic & Electrical Engineering Scholarship in UK for PhD Founded in 1904, University of Leeds is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Leeds (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Yorkshire and the Humber. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants from all countries worldwide
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects:
  • PhD in Electronic & Electrical Engineering

  • Linked research areas include projects within the School, such as Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation of Integrated Energy Systems

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Hold at least a First Class or Upper Second Class (2:1) Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline

  • Some applicants may also be required to hold a Master’s degree, depending on the project

  • Meet the University of Leeds English language requirements (minimum IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component, or equivalent)

  • Secure an academic offer for PhD study at the University of Leeds

  • Be available to start the PhD on 1 October 2026

  • Submit all required documents by the application deadline
