The School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) is inviting applications for fully funded 4-year PhD positions in AI Engineering. Successful candidates will receive a €25,000 annual stipend plus EU tuition fees, access to state-of-the-art research facilities, and opportunities to collaborate with leading industry partners and international research groups.
The AI Engineering PhD programme aims to develop new principles, methods, and tools for engineering AI-enabled software systems. The research focuses on challenges such as uncertainty, robustness, interpretability, optimization, system evolution, and multi-agent coordination, ensuring that AI systems operate reliably in real-world, safety-critical, and large-scale environments.

- Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in AI Engineering and related research areas offered by the School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College Dublin.
- Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Hold a Bachelor’s degree (minimum II.1 honours or equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or a closely related discipline
Have strong foundations in either software engineering or artificial intelligence/machine learning
Demonstrate excellent written and spoken English communication skills
Desirable (but not essential):
A Master’s degree in a relevant field
Research or industry experience in AI/ML, software engineering, or optimization
Publications or significant project work demonstrating research potential.
