University of Regina Dr. Mary Cronin Literacy Scholarship 2025 Established in 1911, University of Regina is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Regina (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Saskatchewan. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Saskatchewan, University of Regina (U of R) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Regina (U of R) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 108 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 80-90% making this Canadian higher education organization a least selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

The award will be made to a graduate student enrolled in a master or doctorate Education degree program who meet the following criteria:

  • Accepted as a fully-qualified graduate student entering in a Master's program in Curriculum and Instruction, or a Doctoral program in Education, with an interest in theory and pedagogy of reading, and in literacy development as demonstrated by either:
  • Successful completion of at least two reading and literacy development courses; or
  • An approved thesis proposal in this area;
  • Full or part time graduate student (Master's level only);
  • Has demonstrated through an approved and relevant research program or practical experience a commitment to working in the area of reading and literacy development with children and families of primarily lower income groups; and
  • Financial Need will be considered.
