President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at University of California in USA


To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Applicants must receive a PhD or terminal degree from an accredited university before the start of their fellowship.
  • Successful applicants must present documents demonstrating that they are legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Individuals granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals programs are encouraged to apply.

Fellowships are awarded for research conducted at any one of the University of California’s ten campuses.

Offered Benefits

The grant provides a salary starting at approximately $50,760 depending on field and experience, benefits including health insurance and paid vacation/sick leave, and up to $5,000 for research-related and program travel expenses.

Application Process

Applications for the President’s and Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs must be submitted via online application through our website.

The online application for the next award cycle is available each year from September through October. The application deadline is November 1.

Applicants may apply to the University of California, University of Michigan, University of Maryland, Carnegie Mellon University and University of Minnesota President's Postdoctoral Fellowship programs, the University of Colorado Boulder Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship program and the California Alliance Postdoctoral Fellowship Program with the same application provided they submit separate mentor letters and research proposals.

All applications submitted to the University of California President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program will automatically be included in the competition for Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs if there is one at the UC campus where the proposed UC faculty mentor is located. Applicants may apply to only one University of California campus.
