In memory of Penny Park, one of Canada's leading science journalists, this award will support one journalism student annually to pursue a pitch idea, a short-term travel intensive or an international exchange. Preference will be given to students with a demonstrated interest and proficiency in the coverage of science journalism.

Established in 2003, Metropolitan University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Sylhet (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Metropolitan University (MU) is a very small (uniRank enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Metropolitan University (MU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 16 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 60-70% making this Bangladeshi higher education organization a somewhat selective institution.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all of the qualifications in at least one of the following groups
- Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Applicant must have clear academic standing.
- Applicant must be enrolled in the School of Journalism.
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by Toronto Metropolitan University.
- Applicant must be enrolled full-time.
OR
- Applicant must be registered with Academic Accommodation Support.
- Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Applicant must have clear academic standing.
- Applicant must be enrolled in the School of Journalism.
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by Toronto Metropolitan University.
- Applicant must be enrolled full-time in a reduced course load.
- Applicant must have an approved accommodation for a reduced course load.

The recipient of the scholarship will be given the financial package of $5,000
