McMaster University  Blakes Scholar Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in Level 2 of a Faculty of Engineering co-op program who self-identify as Black and/or Indigenous and who are interested in working in the financial technology industry to build a more secure, equitable and sustainable future.

McMaster University CIBC Future Technology Leaders Black & Indigenous Scholarship 2025 for Bachelor Established in 1887, McMaster University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Hamilton (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Ontario. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ontario, McMaster University (Mac) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. McMaster University (Mac) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 132 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the qualifications in at least one of the following groups

  • Applicant must be an undergraduate student.
  • Applicant must be registered in Level 2.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in an Honours Co-op or Bachelors Co-op program.
  • Applicant must be eligible for in-course awards (Graduating students are not eligible).
  • Applicant must be enrolled.
  • Applicant must be a current student.
  • This award is not second degree eligible.
  • Applicant must have a minimum of 18 graded units in the current year.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 9.5 sessional average.
  • Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to the Student Declaration.
  • Applicant must identify as a member of a racialized group.
  • Applicant self-identify as Black (including African, African-Canadian, African-American, Afro-Caribbean/West Indian).

OR

  • Applicant must be an undergraduate student.
  • Applicant must be registered in Level 2.
  • This award is plan specific.
  • Applicant must be eligible for in-course awards (Graduating students are not eligible).
  • Applicant must be enrolled.
  • Applicant must be a current student.
  • This award is not second degree eligible.
  • Applicant must have a minimum of 18 graded units in the current year.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 9.5 sessional average.
