Established in 2022 by William Barry Hill, B.Eng. (Class of '66) and M.Eng. (Class of '68) in appreciation of the impact McMaster made on his life and career, and in recognition of his Mohawk heritage. To be awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in Level 3 or above in the Faculty of Engineering who identify as Indigenous and attain high averages. To be considered for this opportunity, proof of Indigenous Identity is required. Please ensure that you have completed the Indigenous Ancestry Verification process and have approved proof of Indigeneity documentation in Mosaic prior to the deadline for this opportunity.

McMaster University William Barry Hill Scholarship 2025 for Bachelor Established in 1887, McMaster University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Hamilton (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Ontario. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ontario, McMaster University (Mac) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. McMaster University (Mac) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 132 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the qualifications in at least one of the following groups

  • This award is specific to students in the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Applicant must be an undergraduate.
  • Applicant must be minimum academic level 3.
  • Applicant must be enrolled.
  • Applicant must be a current student.
  • Applicant must have self-identified as Indigenous on the Mosaic IAVS.
  • This award is not second degree eligible.
  • Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to the Student Declaration.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 9.5 sessional average.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 24 graded units.
  • Applicant must be eligible for in-course awards (Graduating students are not eligible).
  • This award is Plan specific.
  • Applicant must be an undergraduate.
  • Applicant must be minimum academic level 3.
  • Applicant must be enrolled.
  • Applicant must be a current student.
  • Applicant must have self-identified as Indigenous on the Mosaic IAVS.
  • This award is not second degree eligible.
  • Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to the Student Declaration.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 9.5 sessional average.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 24 graded units.

Offered Benefits

$8,000 will be awarded to the recipient of the scholarship
