This Jean-Bazin Excellence Admission Scholarship in Law and International Studies aims to encourage exceptional students pursuing studies in a master's and/or doctoral program offered by the Faculty of Law (subject of study in international law) or by the Graduate School of International Studies (ÉSEI) of Laval University. The 2025 edition is intended for newly admitted and registered students at the Graduate School of International Studies.

University of Laval Jean Bazin Excellence in Law and International Studies Admission Scholarship 2025 for PhD Established in 1852, Université Laval (Laval University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Quebec City (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Quebec. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur, Québec (Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Quebec), Université Laval (UL) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 40,000-44,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Université Laval (UL) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 167 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • New admission in winter or fall 2025 in one of the eligible programs offered by the Graduate School of International Studies;
  • Full-time registration (12 credits) or hold the status “Deemed full-time” within the meaning of Student Financial Aid or be recognized as a parent student by Université Laval (in the last two cases, provide appropriate supporting documentation within the prescribed deadlines) at the time of receiving the scholarship in fall 2025 in one of the programs offered by the Graduate School of International Studies;
  • Have an excellent academic record;
  • For master’s applications, obtain support or a letter of recommendation from a professor who taught you during your previous studies;
  • For doctoral applications, obtain an evaluation from the research director of the previous level of study;
  • For doctoral applications, you must demonstrate a strong interest or relevant experience in research in international studies.

1 scholarship of $15,000 will be given to the recipient of the award
