The University of Regina Family Scholarship was established at the University of Regina in 2009 to assist DEPENDENT of University of Regina employees who are pursuing studies at the undergraduate or post-graduate level. Eligible recipients must be a recognized DEPENDENT or spouse of an eligible CUPE Local 5791 EMPLOYEE, an Administrative Professional and Technical EMPLOYEE, an Academic Staff Member, or an Out-of-Scope EMPLOYEE.

University of Regina Family Scholarship 2025 for Master Established in 1911, University of Regina is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Regina (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Saskatchewan. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Saskatchewan, University of Regina (U of R) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Regina (U of R) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 108 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 80-90% making this Canadian higher education organization a least selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

For admitted graduate students entering the first year of a degree program:

  • pursuing a Master's or Doctoral program at the University of Regina;
  • registered and remains registered as a full time graduate student in the first year of graduate studies;
  • minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80%; and
  • is a recognized DEPENDENT or spouse of an eligible CUPE Local 5791 employee, Administrative Professional and Technical employee, an Academic Staff member, or an Out-of-Scope employee. Employees must be eligible for the Family Scholarship benefit as outlined in the respective collective bargaining agreements.

For continuing graduate students:

  • pursuing a Master's or Doctoral program at the University of Regina;
  • registered and remains registered as a full time graduate student in at least two consecutive semesters in the year pertaining to the award;
  • minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80%; and
  • is a recognized DEPENDENT or spouse of an eligible CUPE Local 5791 employee, Administrative Professional and Technical employee, an Academic Staff member, or an Out-of-Scope employee. Employees must be eligible for the Family Scholarship benefit as outlined in the respective collective bargaining agreements.

Offered Benefits

Multiple awards of $1,000 (CUPE Local 5791, Administrative Professional and Technical, Academic Staff, and Out-of-Scope employees) will be presented each semester. Students are eligible for a maximum of $2,000 (CUPE Local 5791, Administrative Professional and Technical, Academic Staff, and Out-of-Scope employees) per year, per employee of which they are a DEPENDENT or spouse.

  • Please provide the name of who you are a DEPENDENT or spouse of and if they are an EMPLOYEE in the Administrative, Professional and Technical (APT)/ CUPE Local 5791/Faculty/Out-of-Scope; and
  • UP TO DATE Transcripts, which include CURRENT SEMESTER REGISTRATION. University of Regina Unofficial Transcript titled ‘Unofficial Transcript' found in UR Self Service OR University of Regina Official Transcript from MyCreds. Please refer to the MyCreds | MesCertif learner FAQs for more information on fees and how to register.
  • IMPORTANT: If you are an entrance student with no grades yet at the U of R, in addition to the unofficial transcript found in UR Self Service or the official transcript from MyCreds, you MUST also provide a copy of your last institution transcript along with the grading key in order to be considered. You must combine these documents into one and upload them.
  • All of these items are required for an application to be considered complete.
