This award is given in memory of Maurice Arthur Pope (1889-1978), a prominent Canadian civil engineer, army officer, and diplomat. During the Second World War, Brigadier-General Pope served at Canadian military headquarters in London on the military staff of Prime Minister W.L. Mackenzie King. In 1945, he became chief of the Canadian Military Mission in Berlin. He also served as ambassador to Belgium (1950-53) and Spain (1953-56). In 1962, his memoirs, Soldiers and Politicians, were published. Maurice Pope was the son of Sir Joseph Pope, Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald’s principal secretary. Toronto Metropolitan University Maurice Pope Scholarship in History 2025 for Bachelor Established in 2003, Metropolitan University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Sylhet (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants). Metropolitan University (MU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study.   • Applicant must have clear academic standing.
  • Applicant must be a Third or Fourth Year Undergraduate.
