This programme is open to outstanding doctoral candidates wishing to pursue a research project in the field of Jewish studies at the University of Sussex.

Morris and Bessie Emanuel PhD funding for UK and EU Students at University of Sussex, UK Established in 1961, University of Sussex is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the large town of Brighton (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), South East England. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Sussex is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Sussex offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Offered Benefits

The scholarship covers UK/EU or international fees and provides a stipend that matches that provided for UK doctoral students by the UK Research Council. This is a fully-funded scholarship.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: If you want to apply for the opportunity scheme, then you must take admission at the University of Sussex.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants must include:
  • Research proposal(2500 words) with your application.
  • CV
  • Statement of purpose(500)
  • Copy of MA diploma
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Admission Requirements: Aspirants must have at least an upper first class (2.1) and lower second class (2.2).
  • Language Requirement: Students must have IELTS 7.0 overall with at least 6.5 in each component.
  • Standard: An IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in each of the four components (Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing).
