Leslie Wilson Research Studentship 2017 - Magdalene College, University of Cambridge for Phd


The College of St Mary Magdalene is located in the centre of Cambridge beside the bridge on the River Cam, from which the city takes its name. The College has its origins in the year 1428 when King Henry VI approved the establishment of a hostel on the site for Benedictine monks coming from their abbey monasteries in the Fenland to study Canon Law at the University.

The College invites applications for a Leslie Wilson Research Scholarship from well-qualified candidates who will be studying at the University of Cambridge for a PhD Degree and will have graduated from their present University before 1 October 2017. The Scholarship will be tenable for up to three years from 1 October 2017 and there is no restriction of the field of study. While consideration will normally be restricted to those who have obtained, or who have a strong prospect of obtaining, a first-class Honours degree (or its equivalent), evidence of potential intellectual development will be taken into account.

Offered Benefits

In determining the value of the Scholarships in individual cases, the College will take into account candidates' income from all sources. A maximum award of university composition fee (home rate) and full maintenance will be made to a Scholar who has no other sources of income. The successful candidate will receive a minimum award of £500 per year regardless of their resources.
