Accelerating Black Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ABLE) Program for Course


Applications for the second cohort of Accelerating Black Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ABLE) Program 2022 are now open. Selected entrepreneurs will participate in a virtual enterprise and leadership training program from October 2022 - January 2023, leading up to a live, in-person pitch session at Santa Clara University. The time commitment will be about 16 hours per month, including bimonthly training sessions of 8-12 hours and 2-4 hours of mentorship sessions and network-building.

PROGRAMME GOALS

  • Provide a platform for the development of Black entrepreneurs and Black-owned businesses in the U.S.
  • Provide mentoring and networking to learn from industry leaders and open the doors to potential partnerships and funding opportunities.
  • Provide a voice and forum for the recognition of Black entrepreneurs and Black-owned businesses in the U.S.
  • Promote business networking ties between U.S. Black entrepreneurs and African entrepreneurs.

Accelerating Black Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ABLE) Program for Course Established in 1851, Santa Clara University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Santa Clara (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), California. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, Santa Clara University (SCU) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution formally affiliated with the Christian-Catholic religion. Santa Clara University (SCU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 168 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 40-50% making this US higher education organization a averagely selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to Founder or executive of a scalable, for-profit startup;
  • Company must be led or co-led by Black entrepreneurs;
  • The company is early-stage and revenue-generating (seed to Series A);
  • Enterprise must be headquartered in the United States;
  • Must be an established legal entity already in operation for 6 months or more.

Offered Benefits

  • The ABLE Programme Advisory Committee will select the top 10 nominees to receive a fully paid entrepreneurship and leadership training programme complemented by mentorship and network-building forums.
  • In addition, the top 10 will participate in a pitch session and graduation with leading Silicon Valley investors, venture philanthropists, and impact investors among others.
  • Participants will receive a modest stipend as a financial award upon completion of the programme.
  • There is no cost to participate in the programme and companies do not need to give up any equity.
