Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Domestic and international students both can apply.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for PhD research within the School of Chemistry.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Have an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled to study full-time in a Master’s by research or PhD within the School of Chemistry, Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney
  • Be willing to conduct research into DNA nanotechnology and nanofabrication
  • Hold at least an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or Master’s degree with a substantial research component or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Have a background in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, or biomedical engineering
  • Have applied for the Research Training Program
  • Be willing to undertake any security checks, clearances or accreditation if required by the Commonwealth of Australia Department of Defence.

Offered Benefits

The University of Sydney will provide an award amount of $37,207 per annum stipend scholarship for a research student within the School of Chemistry to conduct research into DNA nanotechnology and nanofabrication.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: The students must apply for admission via the university portal. Students who want to apply for a scholarship must submit a  scholarship application form.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants must provide the following  supporting documents:
  • Academic merit
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Two academic referees
  • Official academic transcripts in the original language and English translation
  • English language qualifications if English is not your first language.
  • Personal statement (maximum two pages) demonstrating previous research experience, written outputs, and interest in undertaking a PhD specifically with this opportunity
  • Domestic students will need a passport or birth certificate, or citizenship certificate.
  • Admission Requirements: The students are required to present the  admission requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree with first or upper-second-class Honors’
  • A Masters’s degree performed at a high academic standard, and which includes a substantial component of original research
  • An equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence, and capability.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must fulfill the following  language requirements:
  • If English is not your first language, you will need to provide proof of your English proficiency test
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language: internet-based (TOEFL iBT)
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
  • Cambridge English C1 Advanced (formerly CAE) and Cambridge English C2 Proficiency (formerly CPE)
